The Northern Minnesota Arabian Horse Association was incorporated August 5, 1966.

Our first officers were;

Other Charter Members were;  Muriel Besser, Shirley Motley, Virginia Reed, Willie Hargest, Mrs. Ed Hargest & Steve Vollmer.

The purpose of NMAHA was;

NMAHA promoted the Arabian as an endurance horse with its Pillager endurance & Competetive Rides, which were discontinuted in the 80's.  Club members camped out at the Pillager State Forest overnight to assist with both the endurance & competetive trail rides.  Many members continue to trail ride on the Pillager & Carlos State Park Trails, and NMAHA supported recreational riders with trail rides, clinics, and booths at Horse Expos for a number of years!

From the late 60's to 1984, the annual NMAHA Arabian Horse Show was held in Brainerd, MN.  In 1985, the show moved to Sauk Centre.  It was called the May Double The Fun Show, and we work together with the NDAHA to put on 2 shows in 3 days so that exhibitors can qualify for both Region 10 & Region 6. NDAHA discontinued providing a show and since 2013 NMAHA has been providing the show as sole sponsor. In 2015 the club made the decision to change our show venue to Verndale, MN. to offer more convenience for our exhibitors.

NMAHA was the first club in Minnesota to sponsor an Arabian Community Show when this concept in showing was approved by AHA. This show is held in early June and is located at Litchfield, MN.

NMAHA also participated in the Region 10 Presidents' awards program, which provided people with beautiful plaques to help affiliated clubs honor hard-working volunteer members. Since the program was discontinued our club continues to recognize our own members participation by sponsoring a NMAHA President's Award.
